It is an honor for me to once again lead Big Sky Hog Chapter’s Ladies of Harley Group for 2009. Our Chapter definitely has a big year ahead of us and with the awesome bunch of folks we have as members, I have no doubt 2009 will be an absolute blast!
Well...2009 is off to a speedy start! This year's 'unspoken motto' for BSHD's HOG Chapter (coined by our new Director, Jim Olson) is '...just short of illegal'! Don't let that scare you! All of the incoming officers, led by Jim, want to infuse more 'FUN' into our chapter this year! Overnight rides and event ideas are already being discussed amongst the Officers and details are being pursued. We hope to have a tentative calendar in place within the next couple of months so folks can plan their schedules and get miles and miles of riding in! Contact any one of us if you have an event or ride idea you would like to see happen this year...but hurry...the calendar is filling up FAST!
The LOH 'Breakfast Get-together' will resume in February before the regularly scheduled HOG meeting. Join LOH and their Associates at the 5th Street Diner at 8:30 am the morning of the HOG meeting. Get additional points on your rewards card just by attending the LOH meeting! Over breakfast we will discuss ride opportunities, upcoming events and ideas and generally just get to know one another. Reminders and upcoming events will be posted on the LOH link on the website. Check it out! Everyone is encouraged to think about a ride, event or project that LOH would like to 'take on' for the chapter. Last year, LOH took charge of decorating the shop for the Toy Run. Popular LOH rides like the Fox-n-Hound and Weasel Runs will be back this year, along with overnight rides like the second annual Walla Walla Wine Run, the Lolo Pass Run, and possibly an excursion loop in Southwestern Montana. Stay tuned!
I encourage all ladies to join and participate in L.O.H. and the Big Sky H.O.G. Chapter! I was asked, “What is L.O.H and what do they do?“ Well, Ladies of Harley (L.O.H.) is a program sponsored by the Harley Owners Group to support women motorcycle enthusiasts, riders and non-riders alike. Whether you ride your own motorcycle or are a passenger, you are encouraged to participate in L.O.H.
Any women who are National H.O.G members can join L.O.H., regardless of whether you are a full member, life member or associate member of H.O.G. Once you join L.O.H., you will receive an L.O.H. patch and pin. There is no additional charge to join L.O.H. You simply check the box on your national application, sign up by calling 1-800-CLUBHOG or visit their web site @ http://www.hog.com.
Remember…LOH members are not only women, who ride their own bikes, but also passengers who are chauffeured (and guys, 'Associates', who want to ride with their women on their own bikes). If you ride your own or you are a new bike owner…whether you are a girl or a guy…don't be shy…don't be intimidated! Everyone (no matter how good a rider they are now) had to learn to ride at some point! It doesn't matter how much riding experience you have…or what you ride…the important thing is that YOU ARE RIDING!!! Join myself and the other Ladies of Harley (and our Associates). Share your ideas, questions, experiences, fears and accomplishments. You'd be surprised what you learn about riding by just sharing and listening to stories with other riders. Every year more and more women are riding their own bikes or joining their significant other and riding as a passenger - experiencing the 'freedom of the open road'.. Join us…and let the FUN begin!
Then, attend our Big Sky H.O.G. meetings, come together with
others who share a common interest in Harley-Davidson motorcycles, meet new friends, create new memories, and most importantly…have fun!
