From Humble Beginnings

Kutter Harley-Davidson & Buell, 3223 North Pontiac Drive, has been synonymous with Harley-Davidson in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois for more than 25 years. Kutter began as a storefront operation under the water tower in Delavan, to the USA's first custom designed Harley-Davidson dealership and on to its current 24,000 square foot state-of-the-art setting in Janesville. In addition to the Janesville location the satellite store in Monroe was established in May of 2002. In 2009 Kutter again expanded by adding the Rudi Kutter Memorial Pavilion. The addition provides 7,500 square feet in a freestanding pavilion to the north of the current Kutter dealership in Janesville. Along with "Rider's Edge," the new structure houses a hospitality center for visiting Harley riders and accommodates cultural and social events.

From throughout this region and beyond, the Kutter family of devoted customers has now spread across the country and yet still considers Kutter their home base. With their patronage and loyal support, Kutter has been ranked the #1 Harley-Davidson dealer in the United States, has repeatedly received national and regional awards for technical, customer service, and merchandising, and has annually been honored with the prestigious Harley-Davidson Gold Bar and Shield Circle of Excellence Award, recognizing industry leaders in all facets of sales, service and facilities. Kutter has received this prestigious gold award twelve times and received eight awards consecutively. There are only four other dealerships amongst the seven hundred who have accomplished this placing Kutter Harley Davidson & Buell in the top .05 percent in the United States. As a full service dealership, Kutter also provides a motorcycle rental program and “Rider’s Edge”, a certified motorcycle training course on premises.

Kutter is proud to be the sponsoring dealership for the Swiss Valley Harley Owners Group and for the South Central Wisconsin Harley Owners Group which is the leading individual HOG chapter in the nation for muscular dystrophy, donating well over 1.6 MILLION dollars over the last 16 years!

Rudi and Joanne Kutter established Kutter Harley-Davidson Inc. in 1985 when they gave up individual careers to realize a dream built on service quality and integrity. The growth of the facilities staff and rider support and the dedication of the Kutter Harley family have allowed Kutter to continue to adhere to those founding principles and to continue to grow despite the tragic loss of Rudi Kutter in 1999. Under the leadership of owner Joanne Kutter, and general manager Gary Sinks and an extraordinary staff of sales and service professionals, Kutter still believes in going beyond the customers’ expectations with a solid foundation on SERVICE QUALITY AND INTEGRITY.
